How the Rhinoceros got his skin
The Parsee made a cake. The rhinoceros had no manners, he ate all the cake up then he walked off.
There was a heatwave everyone got hot and the rhinoceros took off his skin when he went to the beach. He went under water and it went bubble, bubble, bubble. The Parsee took the rhinoceros' skin and put cake crumbs in it and waited and waited in the palm tree, and waited for the rhinoceros to come.
The rhinoceros put his skin on and he scratched and scratched and scratched everywhere and he rubbed on the palm tree because the cake crumbs tickled him and he could never get them out ever again. All those days he scratched and scratched and the cake crumbs tickled him worse and worse. That why his skin got loose and folded up to his chin and down to his legs and he went home very crossly.
The End.

How Birds Got Bright Feathers
"Well one morning the snake woke up, went out of his cave and saw all the flowers. He found red flowers that he gobbled all up. When he turned round to look at his tail it had red spots on it.
Then he slithered along until he found blue flowers and he gobbled them all up. When he turned around to look at his tail he had blue spots.
He gobbled up all the flowers in the forest. When he turned round he was covered in all colours and he was the most beautiful snake of all.
The birds said "You ate all the flowers and now the forest is all green". So the snake went back to his cave and then his skin started to come off and he wriggled out of it and then he was just green.
The birds used the skin to cover themselves to make them look pretty - The End"

The Story of Arachne
Arachne did beautiful weaving. She said "i can weave better than anyone else, even better than the goddess Athene".
Then Athene was standing in the doorway!
Athene said "Let's have a competition of weaving."
Athene tore Arachne's beautiful weaving and said "OK, that's better than mine". She touched Arachne on her shoulder and said "No one will like your weaving and you will weave every day!"
Arachne turned into a black blob with 8 legs and ran into a dark corner.
Then Athene was standing in the doorway!

Persephone and the Seasons
Persephone went out to pick flowers and said to her Mummy, Demeter, that she would be back by teatime.
Pluto took Persephone to the Underworld.
Her Mummy went looking for her for 9 days and 9 nights and she didn't eat anything. All the flowers got old.
Zeus wanted Hermes to go and fetch Persephone. Hermes said to Persephone to come back with him. Pluto said "I will never let Persephone go". Hermes said "Please may Persephone go?"
"If she's eaten any fruit she will stay in the Underworld forever" said Pluto. Hermes said "Its only a few seeds, it isn't much". Pluto said "O.K. but she must spend 1/2 the year on Earth and 1/2 in the Underworld".
Then they went back home for tea and Demeter said "Oh, you're back!" and she wore her pretty clothes again and all the crops started to grow.
When Persephone is home Demeter is happy and all the plants grow. This is what we call Spring and Summer.
When Persephone goes to the Underworld Demeter is sad, she turns old and wears black clothes and all the plants go brown. This is what we call Autumn and Winter.

Noah and his Ark
God said "I'm going to flood the whole world". He said to Noah to build an ark for lots and lots of animals and his children.
He made some plans. They got some wood and a cover and then built the ark. The animals were all coming together, there were two of each. Then they saw a big rain cloud. The rain poured down and filled up the sea.
Then they floated away to get to dry land but they couldn't see any. So noah sent a raven to find dry land, The raven didn't come back. Then he sent another raven and he came back with a stick in his mouth and that meant there was dry land.
They opened the door and got out the boat. God said "i'm sorry for flooding the land, I didn't mean to".Noah saw a rainbow.
